Medicare:
Medicare pays 100% of the cost for home health care. Most individuals who are 65 years of age and older or permanently disabled are eligible for Medicare. If the individual has difficulty leaving the home setting and requires the skills of a licensed nurse, physical therapist, speech therapist, occupational therapist or home care aide for acute or chronic medical conditions, he or she may be eligible for services provided by a Medicare-certified home health agency. The referring physician must direct and periodically oversee the patient’s plan of care.

• Leaving your home isn’t recommended because of your condition AND
• You’re normally unable to leave your home and leaving home is a major effort
You may leave home for medical treatment or short, infrequent absences for non-medical reasons, like attending religious services. You can still get home health care if you attend adult day care.
